“The Tool for our Task”

John 14:15–29 “The Tool for our Task”

As every occupation has its bag of tools, and uses the proper tools for their particular trade, we need a tool to carry on our daily life’s responsibilities as a follower of Christ.

And part of the Good News is that our God equips us for our task. In other words, God supplies the tools we need to carry out the Great Commission. That’ what we are going to learn from the message.

In today’s gospel reading, Jesus was telling the Disciples that after His death and resurrection things might get a little scary, they might feel cut off and alone. But did you hear what He said? “I will not leave you orphaned.” And He promised us a companion in ministry, “the Advocate, the Holy Spirit.” And the Holy Spirit “will teach us everything and remind us of all that Jesus said.”

What Jesus tries to communicate to his disciples about the power of the Holy Spirit is that the Spirit is coming to help us, to hold us, to advise us, to give us strength to carry on. Through the presence of the Holy Spirit, we discover the tools we need for our calling. God equips us for ministry.  IL-WOONG.
