Luke 16:19-31, The Story of the Rich Man & Lazarus

Today’s passage is one of three parables in the gospel of Luke (Luke 12:16–21; 16:1–9; 19–31) that involve a “rich man”, and its particular story is about the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man’s sin is not that he is rich, but that he, who had the resources to relieve Lazarus’ suffering, was so caught up in his own self-interest that he did not even notice Lazarus’ need. This happened in spite of the fact that he and his five brothers had read the Law and the Prophets, in which such self-centred insensibility to the needs of others is repeatedly condemned. The challenge in this text is for us to identify some of the people around us who are regularly ignored, even treated as if they are invisible, and then to reach out to them.   IL-WOONG.

Our Mission is to
Connect with people in Jesus;
Build each other up in faith; and to
