Isaiah 43:1-13, Giving Thanks to God
In today’s text, Isaiah reminds the people who God is. The God is who created the people; who formed the people; who brought Israel into being. The people of Israel were not there for its own purposes, but because God planned it and God brought it into being. The same applies to all of God’s people today, whether Jew or ‘gentile’ we are all part of God’s plan and subject to him.
The Lord continues to say “Do not fear” (v. 1) – when we know who God is and trust Him, there is nothing for us to be afraid of. When we trust in him, there is nothing that will take away his love for us. We see lots of reasons that God tells us not to fear. God says “Do not fear” because ‘I created and formed you; I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine (v.1); I will be with you (v. 2); I love you (v. 4); I am the Lord (v.11).’
Through the good times in life, and through the bad, God is there with us. If you feel like you are facing any kind of suffering or if every day is like living in Wonderland, He is there taking us by the hand, picking us up when we fall, brushing us off, comforting us and guiding us on our journey. IL-WOONG.
