Matthew 4:12-23, John 1:35-42 / Following God’s Calling

Today’s passage from the Gospel tells a story about Jesus calling some people to become his followers. It describes how these individuals immediately left their jobs, families, and plans for the future to follow Jesus. The passage suggests that it seemed easy for both Jesus and the new followers, but it prompts us to question if it was truly that simple. As we think about our own life journey and faith, we are encouraged to consider how we respond when God calls us. Are we willing to say ‘yes’ to God’s call, even if we don’t know where it will lead us? The passage raises concerns about leaving behind familiar things like a job, family, and plans, and it acknowledges that following God’s call can be challenging. It requires taking risks, trusting, and stepping into the unknown. It may also mean facing and overcoming our fears. However, the passage reminds us that we ultimately belong to God, who invites us to follow in faith.  IL-WOONG.
