Luke 1:26-38, A Lesson from a Girl in Trouble

In today’s gospel reading, Mary had been chosen, “favoured,” to have an important part in God’s plan to bring salvation to God’s people. She is one who is obedient to God even at great risk to self. We shall call Mary the first disciple, who has heard the call of God upon her life and said “Yes.”

We cannot begin the story of Jesus without beginning with Mary. We cannot comprehend the wonder of nativity without her. This Sunday we read the story of the angel’s annunciation to Mary that she will bear the Son of God into the world. When you think about it, that’s also the Advent announcement that comes to each of us – each of us, like Mary – in our own way is chosen by God to bear Jesus into the world.

As we reflect on the message, I would ask questions: Would you give yourself obediently in response to God’s call?  In other words, would you say ‘yes’ in response to God’s call to be a committed Christian and follow what Jesus Christ taught us?  IL-WOONG.

Our Mission is to
Connect with people in Jesus;
Build each other up in faith; and to
Become Like Jesus.
