Mark 13:1-23, The Unknown Hour: Faithful Living in the End Times
In today’s passage, Jesus gets His disciples ready for what’s ahead, warning them about tough times and big changes. He starts by predicting that the temple in Jerusalem will be destroyed, showing that even impressive things on earth won’t last forever. From there, He talks more about the “end times,” mentioning signs like wars, natural disasters, and persecution. Rather than giving a specific timeline, Jesus tells His followers to stay alert, wise, and strong in their faith.
The main message is about being ready, resilient, and faithful. Jesus comforts His disciples by saying that while things in this world might fall apart, His words and promises will never fail. He encourages them not to be misled by false prophets or frightened by the chaos around them, but to trust in God’s bigger plan. The passage asks believers to keep an eternal perspective, staying faithful to God’s unchanging promises, even when everything else is uncertain. It’s both a caution and a message of hope, urging followers to stay watchful, faithful, and rooted in God’s truth. IL-WOONG.
