Luke 2:1- 12 / The Dilemma of Innkeeper’s Belief
In today’s message, we will reflect on the narrative of Jesus’ birth and the imagined role of the innkeeper, highlighting God’s sovereign timing and purpose. While scripture does not clearly mention an innkeeper, it invites contemplation of how the innkeeper may have faced a “dilemma of belief” when denying or finding alternative lodging for Mary and Joseph.
The account ties the historical and geographical details of the story to a broader reflection on human readiness to make room for Christ. It parallels the innkeeper’s actions with a call for individuals to open their hearts and lives to God’s work, emphasising that even small roles in God’s plan contribute to His glory and humanity’s good.
The story also explores the significance of Christ’s coming as the light overcoming darkness, and the need for faith to recognise and participate in this divine unfolding. Ultimately, it underscores that God’s timing is always perfect and calls for a personal response to prepare room for Christ in one’s life. IL-WOONG.
