The Beatitudes: A Call to Kingdom Living
Matthew’s Sermon on the Mount and Luke’s Sermon on the Plain offer contrasting perspectives on the Beatitudes. While Matthew presents a more spiritualised interpretation, Luke emphasises real-world struggles—poverty, hunger, and suffering—underscoring Jesus’ message of justice and inclusion.
Jesus directly addresses his disciples, blessing the poor, the hungry, and the sorrowful while warning the wealthy, the comfortable, and the self-satisfied. His words challenge conventional ideas of success, calling his followers to a life of sacrifice and active participation in God’s kingdom.
Rather than retreating into spiritual isolation, Jesus engaged with the world—healing, teaching, and restoring hope. Likewise, his followers are called to stand with the marginalised, serve selflessly, and advocate for justice.
Ultimately, Jesus’ message is a radical invitation to Kingdom living—prioritising the poor, uplifting the broken-hearted, and challenging the privileged to live generously. Through prayer, service, and sacrifice, we align with Christ’s mission, bringing God’s kingdom to life on earth. IL-WOONG
Church-Wide Study: Encounter
Join us for our upcoming Church-Wide Study, “Encounter” by Olive Tree Media. From 9th March to 13th April, we will embark on a six-week journey through the Gospels, exploring life-changing encounters with Jesus. This is a great opportunity to grow in faith, reflect on Christ’s transformative power, and share personal experiences of encountering Him.
