Exodus 14:10–18, Standing Firm, Moving Forward
When the Israelites found themselves trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, God’s word to them was clear: Do not be afraid, stand firm, and move forward. Their story reminds us that fear can prevent us from seeing what God is doing, while faith calls us to trust God even when the way ahead is uncertain. Sometimes we need to stand still and wait upon God; at other times, faith requires us to take the next step in obedience.
This call is not only for us individually but also for the Church. As we reflect and discern God’s future direction for our congregation, we are invited to ask: What does God’s call to “go forward” mean for us? (where God is leading us and what “going forward” means for our community of faith. ) May we have the courage to stand firm in faith, respond to the needs of our community, and move forward wherever God leads us.
Il-Woong.
