Welcome to this gathering at Lugarno Peakhurst Uniting Church on Sunday, 23 September 2022. In today’s Scripture reading, it is unclear, whom Jesus was seeking to teach, but we can probably assume that it was the Pharisees and His disciples and it concerned their attitude, when they came before God in prayer. The Pharisee in this story displayed an aura of arrogant self-confidence, while the Tax Collector was under conviction for his wrongdoing. The Pharisee forgot that he was a sinner, but the Tax Collector didn’t and he was the only person, who went home justified before God.
