Welcome to this gathering at Lugarno Peakhurst Uniting Church on Sunday 12 April 2026. Our reading today covers five aspects. The first involves Jesus appearing before His disciples following His resurrection. The second involves the commissioning of the disciples for the work they are to do following Jesus’ return to God the Father. The third involves Jesus breathing on them to receive the Holy Spirit, similar to what happened in Genesis. The fourth involves forgiveness of sin and our role in the Church and the final aspect is about Thomas. We can be thankful to Thomas for two things; firstly, his realism about Jesus’ suffering and death and secondly, he asked questions of Jesus and, we shouldn’t be afraid to do likewise.
