Luke 4:14-30, Responding God’s Calling
There have been different responses on God’s calling. Some accepts God’s call courageously at once while other askes the ‘why me?’ kind of question. In today’s gospel, we can find that Jesus was ready to fulfil his calling and allow him to be able to project a vision of hope even though there was furiousness, and rejection by people in his hometown. Jesus calls them to hear what their lives could be – There will be a time when the poor hear good news; the prisoners are released; the oppressed are set free; those who are spiritually and physically blind, are able to see and experience God’s grace (vs. 18-19).
Where are you today? What is your response on God’s calling? The good news is that Jesus comes to us and calls us to go with him – to walk with him, to follow him, to become servants, witnesses, and to become more than we are. IL-WOONG.

Dominion: How the Christian Revolution Remade the World – John Anderson “To live in a Western country is to live in a society still utterly saturated by Christian concepts and assumptions … Whether it is the conviction that the workings of conscience are the surest determinants of good law, or that church and state exist as distinct entities … The West, increasingly empty though the pews may be, remains firmly moored to its Christian past.”(xxv)
