Luke 17:5-10 / More Faith? Or More Trust?
This Sunday, we reflect on Jesus’ response to the disciples’ plea: “Increase our faith!” Rather than giving them more, Jesus redirects their focus. Faith, He teaches, isn’t about size – it’s about trust in the One who is faithful. Even faith as small as a mustard seed can uproot trees because it rests not on human effort, but on the power of God. Whether it’s David standing before Goliath or someone trusting others in a team exercise, real faith steps forward without needing to see the outcome.
Jesus then shifts to speak about servanthood. In the parable of the unworthy servant, He challenges our expectations of reward and recognition. Disciples aren’t called to serve for applause, but because they belong to the Master. Humble service is the natural posture of a true follower.
The heart of this message is both challenging and freeing: you don’t need more faith – just use the faith you already have. Trust deeply in a great God, and let that trust move you to act. Serve faithfully, without seeking the spotlight. Live out a bold, humble faith rooted not in what you can do, but in who God is. That is enough. IL-WOONG.
