Luke 1:57-66, Making Way for the Lord

In the season of Advent, we try to rethink and picture ourselves again to the wonderful story of the birth of Jesus, and also prepare for the celebration of his birth. When the time for the birth of Jesus had come, there were a large number of people who were quite involved in those preparations.

In today’s text, we are introduced to Zechariah and Elizabeth who became the parents of John, a preparer of the people for the coming of God’s Son. John is to be one who prepares in the wilderness a highway for the coming of God’s Son; prepares the way for the coming of light and peace and love; and sets the scene for the arrival of Jesus. John was a “Preparer,” whose purpose was to make ready for the Lord, a people prepared. Now, it is important that we understand our role as the ones who are to fulfill the same task as those ‘Preparers.’ We are to open the way for God through the wilderness in which we live. We are to make way for the Advent of God’s love on this day. We may seek in every way, in everything we do, in every gift we buy, in every card we write, in every greeting we give to make ready for the Lord.  IL-WOONG.

Our Mission is to
Connect with people in Jesus;
Build each other up in faith; and to
Become Like Jesus.
