LPUC eNews – Sunday 15 September 2019

Our Mission is to
Connect with people in Jesus;
Build each other up in faith; and to
Become Like Jesus.

Proverbs 3:1-18  We are looking this week at the book of Proverbs which is considered by most to be a book of wisdom or instructions on how to live a life pleasing to God written by King Solomon. Proverbs 3:5-6 talks about trusting God completely and not rely on our own understanding. I hope that you can join with me discovering a bit more about the book of Proverbs as well as how and why we should trust God completely and not rely on our own understanding.  Robbie.

Proverbs in 8 minutes This book is the accumulation of wisdom from generations of godly insightful people. It promotes a life of virtue and “fear of the Lord,” so that you can truly experience the good life. Proverbs is one of the three books that explore these themes of biblical wisdom.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Last Tuesday night 31 people gathered to pack our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  There were lots of fun and fellowship as we packed 450 boxes in just over an hour.  We can only imagine the joy & the smiles on the faces of the children when they open their box.  Furthermore, the joy in heaven when many of these children give their lives to Christ after completing the Greatest Journey Discipleship course.  This all starts with these children receiving a simple shoebox of gifts. Thank you to all who contributed in any way whether by covering boxes, buying goods, sewing bags, knitting beanies, making picture books and many other ways.  We still have a way to go with our postage so any donations would be greatly appreciated.  Again, thank you and God bless you for the part you played in this wonderful ministry.

DVD of the Week:

Spiritual Beings.  In the opening pages of the Bible, God creates two overlapping realms, the heavens and the earth. This is where the drama of the biblical storyline takes place. Many of us are familiar with the earthly drama. Humans are given a wonderful garden to rule on God’s behalf, but they lose access to this paradise because of a foolish rebellion. But the biblical authors want us to see another set of characters, the inhabitants of the heavenly realm who are also heavily involved in this earthly story.  This DVD introduces us to Elohim, the Divine Council, Angels and Cherubim, the Angel of the Lord, the Satan and Demons and the New Humanity.
