Matthew 11:1-5, 16-19, 25-30 / Knowing Christ, Living Christ
This Sunday we reflect on one of the most important questions of our faith: Who is Jesus to you? While many people know about Jesus, the Gospel reminds us that there is a profound difference between knowing facts about Him and truly knowing Him in a life-transforming relationship.
In Matthew 11, even John the Baptist, who had prepared the way for Jesus, found himself questioning whether Jesus was really the promised Messiah. Rather than offering a simple answer, Jesus pointed John to His words and works, inviting him to recognise God’s kingdom through what he could see and hear. The people of Jesus’ day also struggled to recognise God’s work. They rejected John because he was too austere and criticised Jesus because He welcomed sinners and outcasts. Their expectations prevented them from seeing who Jesus truly was.
The message challenges us to consider our own response to Christ. Genuine faith grows beyond intellectual knowledge into a personal relationship marked by trust, obedience, and discipleship. Jesus reveals Himself not merely to the wise or knowledgeable but to those who humbly receive Him with childlike faith.
