Exodus 17:1–7 — God Is Already There
In Exodus 17, the Israelites found themselves in the wilderness with no water. Fear and frustration grew until they asked, “Is the Lord among us or not?” Their question was not simply about water. It was about whether they could trust that God was still with them in their uncertainty.
Yet God had not abandoned them. God heard their cry, responded to Moses, and provided what they needed. Most importantly, God said, “I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb.” Before Moses reached the rock, God was already there.
This is an important reminder for us as we face change and discern the future. We may wish God would give us a complete map, but often God simply shows us the next faithful step. We can move forward together by listening to God and one another, remembering God’s faithfulness, and trusting God’s presence. God has been faithful. God is with us now. And whatever lies ahead, God is already there.
