Luke 24:1–12, Get Up and Go: The Call of Easter
Today’s message focuses on Peter’s response in Luke 24:12: “But Peter got up and ran to the tomb…” His decision to move, despite guilt and fear, marked a turning point – not just for himself, but for the early church. Peter’s action shows the courage it takes to begin again after failure. Though he had denied Jesus, he chose to rise and move forward, a reminder that we, too, still have more life to live.
Peter stooped to look into the empty tomb. He didn’t find answers, just burial cloths –but he looked anyway. That moment invites us to approach faith with humility and a willingness to live with uncertainty. We don’t need to have it all figured out to take the next step.
Peter didn’t stop at curiosity. He followed Jesus again. He preached the resurrection and stepped into his calling. Jesus doesn’t demand perfection – only that we follow.
Easter isn’t about big displays or perfect faith. It’s about taking that next step, in brokenness or doubt, toward the Risen Christ. Like Peter, we’re called to get up, look in, and keep walking. IL-WOONG.
