John 20: 1-18 / From Tears to Joy: An Easter Transformation

On that first Easter morning, the day did not begin with celebration, but with tears. Mary Magdalene stood outside the empty tomb, overwhelmed with grief, confusion, and loss. Into that moment came a gentle but powerful question from the risen Jesus: “Why are you crying?”

This message reflects on the reality that we, too, carry sorrow – regret, guilt, unanswered questions, and concern for the world around us. Like Mary, we often search for hope while still holding onto our pain.

Everything changed when Jesus called Mary by name. In an instant, her grief turned to joy, and despair gave way to hope. The resurrection was not just something she witnessed – it was something she experienced.

This Easter message reminds us that Jesus is not simply a figure of the past, but the living Christ who meets us today. When we believe in His resurrection, we are given: Peace in the midst of trouble; Strength for today; Hope for the future; A new perspective shaped by eternity.

Because He lives, sorrow does not have the final word. Like Mary, we are invited to move from weeping to rejoicing as we encounter the risen Lord who calls each of us by name. Il-Woong.

Our Mission is to

Connect with people in Jesus;

Build each other up in faith; and to

Become like Jesus.
