Mark 2:13-17 / Encounter: People Met Jesus, Then and Now – 2. Outsider

Today’s text highlights Jesus’ acceptance of all people, especially outsiders, emphasising that faith is open to everyone, regardless of past mistakes or social status.

The message focuses on how Jesus notices individuals even in a crowd, using Levi – a despised tax collector – as an example. Despite his reputation, Jesus calls Levi to follow Him, showing that no one is overlooked. This connects to the modern struggle with loneliness, reinforcing that Jesus sees and values each person.

Jesus’ radical act of eating with tax collectors and sinners challenges religious norms, symbolising inclusion and proving that no one is beyond God’s reach. Testimonies from a video affirm that Jesus still welcomes and transforms lives today.

The message concludes with a call for self-reflection, inviting the audience to consider how God is speaking to them and how they will respond to His call. IL-WOONG.
