Crossing the Cultural Divide: (Episode 8: China),

1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Last week we touched on Bible Translation as one of the key missionary priorities of the last few centuries. The motivation to see the Bible translated for every tongue, tribe and nation has taken people to the ends of the earth. One of the great challenges that faced these translators was the challenge of crossing the cultural divide.

In order to communicate to others, we have to connect with them. We do this by looking, listening, and connecting things in a way they will understand. Crossing the cultural divide and trying to connect with an entirely new group of people was especially pronounced when missionaries began taking the Gospel to unknown places.  That’s what we are looking at today, one of the themes; in crossing the cultural divide to take the message of Jesus to the ends of the earth. IL-WOONG.
