Genesis 15: 1-7, 17-18 & Luke 13:31-35, Choosing the Way

Today is the second Sunday in Lent. Lent is a reflective season that has an opportunity to go deep within ourselves and focuses on our relationship with God and with others.

The Scripture lessons today focus on the covenants or promises that God made with the people of God. Like Jesus, we choose to enter this time of “desert,” in order to remember the promises of God, hear the stories of ways in which they were fulfilled, and the ways in which we are called to participate in those promises in our own time – to discover who we are in God and what we are to do.

Think about Jesus’ courage in going to Jerusalem where he knew there was going to be trouble – bravely walking into Jerusalem to face death threats. Jesus loved Jerusalem; he loved the people and had compassion for them as he lives out its essence of loving God and loving your neighbour.   IL-WOONG.
