Ephesians 4:17 – 5:2 / Becoming What We Are: Living as Imitators of God

In today’s Epistle reading, the Apostle Paul emphasises the importance of Christians understanding their true identity in Christ and living in a way that reflects their calling as “beloved children” of God. The message explores how people often define themselves by family, race, occupation, or politics, but highlights that the most profound identity is found in being a Christian. Believers are called to embrace a new nature, living lives of righteousness and holiness, and imitating Christ in their daily actions.

The message challenges believers to move beyond superficial expressions of faith, such as materialism, empty talk, or fleeting emotional experiences. Instead, they are encouraged to embody Christ-like behaviour through love, forgiveness, and service. The practical application of this imitation involves continually asking, “What would Christ do?” in every situation and striving to be ambassadors of His peace and light in the world. This call to imitation is central, urging the faithful to reflect God’s character in their daily lives through love, holiness, and unity.  IL-WOONG.
