Matthew 17:1-20 / After the Mountain Top
This week’s message reflects on the Transfiguration of Jesus and the powerful “mountaintop experience” shared by Peter, James, and John. On the mountain, Jesus was revealed in glory, reminding the disciples that he was not just a remarkable teacher, but truly God with them. This extraordinary moment was given not for Jesus’ sake, but to strengthen the disciples’ faith and understanding.
Yet the story does not end on the mountain. While glory was revealed above, confusion, need, and struggle remained in the valley below. The message reminds us that while mountaintop experiences are precious and life-shaping, we are called to return to everyday life with renewed faith. God reveals his presence to encourage us – not to escape the world, but to serve faithfully within it. IL-WOONG.
