Expanding on the Vision
Growing in holiness:
We seek to be transformed more like Jesus through discipleship and intimacy with God (2 Corinthians 3:18).
We strive for integrity in all that we do (Psalm 25:21).
We are commanded to grow in holiness (Hebrews 12:14).We see genuine relationships with each other as vital to building holiness (John 17:22-23).
We promote genuine relationships through being together.
Relevant without compromise in holding to the truth of the Bible:
We hold the Bible as the ultimate source of authority in our lives (2 Timothy 3:16).
We are people who live and love the Word of God (Joshua 1:8).
All our actions, programmes and activities are consistent with the overall teachings found in the Word of God and relevant to the needs of our community.
All attendees involved in a small group:
We see small groups as the lifeblood of our church.
We encourage each other to be part of a small group where all members learn from the Word of God, share and pray for each other. These groups are a place where members feel safe to share their faith. They can be formal or informal in structure.
Our small group leaders need to be regularly trained and equipped. We seek out potential leaders to enable sustainable growth.
Connecting with the community, especially focusing on growing youn, to extend God’s Kingdom:
We are God’s disciples sent to take his word to our community and the world (Romans 10:14-15) We are a church that reaches out to the disconnected with compassion.
Jesus commands us to go and teach others all that He has commanded us to do. (Matthew 28:20). This will involve our members using the interests and skills they have to connect with individuals, neighbours and other groups to extend God’s Kingdom.
Support for gospel ministries outside our local community:
We believe that gospel ministries through people who are devoted to extending the transforming grace of Jesus Christ will positively influence our communities.
We will support gospel ministries involved in the extension of the Kingdom of God through prayer and other practical service.
We seek to be known for our generosity (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
Committed to dynamic worship services:
We seek to honour God with biblical, meaningful and powerful worship services. We seek excellence and creativity in all our ministries.
We believe that the most fundamental relationship people can have is an active, living relationship with God through Jesus Christ his Son (John10:10, Romans 6:23).
Our worship services reflect this by upholding creative, inspiring, and authentic worship that demonstrates that God is living and active in this generation, and by being a safe place for members to bring their friends, relatives, and co-workers.
To provide this atmosphere we see members contributing their God given gifts in a variety of areas such as music, theatre, preaching, teaching and prayer.
Growth:
An we commit to fulfil our mission and vision, we believe that we may grow in mission, relationship, discipleship, numbers and impact. Our mission and vision statements are to be reviewed annually.
Some of our members plant the seed of the Word of God, others water it but it is God who provides the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6). We need to remain faithful to the planting and watering of God’s Word in our community for God to provide the growth.
Uniting Church Beliefs
When The Uniting Church was formed, a document was compiled titled the Basis of Union. This document set the platform for how these churches came together. It outlines the roles of the different councils of the Church including the Presbyteries (District), the Synods (States), and the Assembly (National). It states the central affirmations of the Christian faith and is a guide to what is central in the life of the Uniting Church. You can read the Basis of Union at the Uniting Church of Australia website.
