2 Corinthians 9:6-15, Giving in Faith

Today, I am going to focus on the second part of ‘Thanksgiving’.  I would say that ‘Christian Giving’ is about our response to God’s generosity.  As we acknowledge that everything we have, everything we are, and everything we ever hope to be, comes from God, we are to return what we have from Him for His glory and kingdom.

All things are God’s!  We are the stewards of God’s things.  We are responsible to make certain that God’s things are used to glorify God, to further God’s work and build God’s reign on earth.  But it is hard to think of our possessions as God’s possessions!  It is hard to let go of that money we hold onto so tightly!  Yes, we love God, and we intellectually understand God’s generosity and the grace in which live.  But when it comes right down to it we don’t want to let go of the stuff we have come to think of as our own.

There are many Bible passages that remind us that our starting point should be with the question of why we should give rather than the questions of how much, to whom, and how often we have to give.  So my question today is “Why should we give?” and answers are – We should give because financial giving expresses our attitude of thankfulness to God; our giving puts God first; and our financial giving worships God.

When God gives, He gives it all – stretched out your arms to the full length – God gave His only son to the world; to you and me.  God gives us time, abilities and financial resources.   Then, He calls us to share, but he does not force us.  Do you believe that all things are God’s?  Do you understand what God wants us to do?  IL-WOONG.

Dear LPUC Family,  As most of you are aware by now, we recently made the decision to find a new church. While this was a difficult decision to make, we decided it was time to find a church closer to home with the boys. We would like to thank you all for your prayers, encouragement and support over the many years we have been at LPUC. This is where we both became Christians, met each other and had our two beautiful boys, and we are beyond grateful that this was where it all began. We look forward to all that God is calling our family to do, and know we will see you all again in the near future.  Love from the Morrison’s (Craig, Fi, Jacob and Kai).
